The Program will be named "The Samuel Checker Game".
The Contractor agrees to provide a broad outline of the program and to do
enough detailed programming to get the work well under way so that the
resulting program will be as good a checker player as can be reasonably
expected, subject to the constraints imposed by the available machine
resources. The Contractor also agrees to assist in the debugging of the
overall program. The Contracter agrees to provide the contractor with
programming assistance as needed, initially in the person of Mrs. Guli
Aboobaker, or with someone having similar abilities, and it will be this
person's responsibility to provide the detailed specifications required by
the Contracter and to do the display portion of the programming.
The Contractor further agrees to allow the Contracter to use the
Contractor's name both as to the designation of the cartridge as noted
above and in advertizing the program cartridge subject to the Contractor's
approval as to the accuracy and good taste of the proposed usage. The
Contractor agrees not to make any similar arrangements with any of the
Contracter's competitors for the duration of this agreement.
For these services the Contracter agrees to retain the Contractor as a
consultant for the duration of the program development period and for as
long there-after as may prove worthwhile to the two contracting parties
and to pay the Contractor a sum of $500.00 per month for these services.
Should this arrangement continue after the completion of the the initial
program the Contractor agrees to undertake the development of other
programs for the contracter's machine as may be mutually decided or, in the
absence of such tasks the contractor will provide a minimum of 6 hours of
general consulting services per month, and will do additional work as may
be mutually agreed upon at a fixed fee of $500 per day.
In addition the Contracter will supply the Contractor with an early
production model of the completed machine and one each of the associated
cartridges used with the machine. The Contracter further agrees to pay
the Contractor a royalty of 10 cents per cartridge sold from the time the
first one is sold and for a period of 5 years thereafter.
Nothing in this agreement will be construed as preventing the Contractor
from discussing the general problem of programming computers to play games
or of supplying others with copies of his present checker playing program
as written for other machines than the Contracter's product or products.
The Contractor, however, will not reveal the details of the program written
for the Contracter or in any way disclose any information that he may
receive from the Contracter or the contracter's employees during the
course of this work
